Kensley was afraid to hit the pinata for some reason. She loved hitting the one at Thanksgiving. I think she may have been scared because we were outside in the dark.

I was watching TV while Kensley was running around playing. I suddenly realized that she was being really quiet, so I got up to find her. She heard me get up and came running up to me with this all over her face. She had found my makeup and was eating my mascara. It was in a closed container and up on a counter. She is very resourceful when she wants something.

Leopard Princess

Kensley is starting to pose and laugh for pictures. She just sits there and giggles while I take her picture and then grabs for the camera to see it when I am done. I found this dress that Sandi handed down to me in a box yesterday and made her wear it to church today even though it was way too short. I felt that she had to at least wear it once! She didn't wear the hat to church, just for the picture. A lady in my ward told her she was so pretty and looked just like a doll and Kensley ran down the hall saying "pretty, pretty".

Santa Claus Pinata

Me and Sandi made a Santa Claus Pinata for all the kids to hit during the Thanksgiving weekend. My mom used to make one for us to break every Christmas Eve and it is a tradition we have all loved and continue to do. Since my mom is on a mission to Nauvoo this year, I had to paint the Santa Claus face myself and it was pretty sad looking, but still fun for the kids. Kensley loved hitting it with the stick and kept swinging the stick around even after it was broken and all the candy was gone.

Big Hugs

Kensley is a very cuddly little girl and loves to give big hugs. She follows me around all day saying, "hug, hug" until I give her a hug. This picture is Kensley giving her cousin RJ a hug during Thanksgiving vacation in Cedar City.

Doctor's Visit

Kensley had her 15-month well check at the doctor's office yesterday. She is almost 16 months now so it was a little late. It was such a sad visit for Kensley. She cried everytime the nurse or doctor came near her, even before the shots came out. They couldn't even look at her without her crying. She must have known what was coming, three shots! So sad. We are so mean to our babies. She took a nap right when we got home and seemed fine. Later that evening, she suddenly started crying like she was in some kind of pain and wouldn't even walk. I gave her some Ibuprofen and had to hold her for about 30 minutes while she cried. After that she was fine. She weighed in at 22 lbs 3.5 oz and was 32.5 inches long. She is just under the 50th percentile in weight and in the 95th percentile for height! I was surprised that she is tall! :o)

Elephant Ride

I couldn't resist buying this giant stuffed elephant for Kensley today at Sam's Club. It is slightly ridiculous, but I couldn't help myself and I knew she would love it. :o)

Halloween 2007

We spent Halloween in Denver this year. Kensley is bonding with her Uncle Ed after trick-or-treating around their neighborhood.

Little Devil

Kensley was a little devil for Halloween. I wanted a costume that was somewhat unique and there wasn't much to choose from. I decided that a devil was fitting. :o)

Trick-or-Treat

Kensley loved trick-or-treating even though she didn't really understand what was going on. All that mattered was the candy! She dug in the candy bowls at all the houses with no shame.

Bath Time

I apologize for the naked baby video, but I thought she was being really cute in her bath tonight and I couldn't resist. :o) Usually when I try to take video of her, she stops doing whatever she is doing and just tries to grab the camera. Since she was in the bathtub, she was distracted and couldn't get to the camera.

Signing Time

Kensley has been learning sign language from the videos "Signing Time". It is the only 30-minute brake I get in a day because she loves to watch them and doesn't care what I am doing when it is on. One of her favorite signs is "airplane" and whenever she hears or sees one flying by she gets excited and does the sign. This makes Stephen very proud. :o) She also loves to say and sign "go", "ball" and "dog". Almost every animal is a dog to her.

Rude Awakening

Two nights ago I put Kensley to bed just like normal. I was trying to be quiet and not wake her up, so I didn't latch the side of the crib properly. She woke up in the middle of the night, like she always does, and pulled herself up using the side of the crib that was not put up right. It collapsed and she flipped over the side and landed on the floor. She wasn't very happy to say the least. I did a quick once over to make sure she was all right and there were no bruises or bumps that I could see. So she has officially survived her first dive out of the crib!

Climbing Stairs Sept 15, 2007

Kensley has figured out how to get up the stairs with whatever barriers have been put up to keep her from there. As you can see from the pictures, there is a gate at the bottom of the stairs and a shirt tied around the bars. She pulls herself up using the bars and then squeezes through and makes a mad dash to the top. She is quite pleased with herself whenever she accomplishes this task.

Kensley Stuck

Kensley was playing with her little toy car and was getting really frustrated. She kept trying to crawl through the back and this time she got stuck and couldn't get her head out. She wasn't happy that I took a picture before rescuing her!

The big birthday girl eating some snacks before dinner and cake. She had her one-year check up on Monday, July 23. She weighed 20 lbs 13 ounces and is 29 1/2 inches long. They gave her the chicken pox vaccine and she didn't even cry. I was expecting it to be as traumatic as her last shot, but she just gave a dirty look and a little yell and she was done. It helped that the nurse gave her a sucker when it was all over.
