Beetles and Ford's
Before me and Stephen were married, I spent a lot of time pining over the new Volkswagen Beetles. I wanted one so bad and everyday at work I would look through the newspaper to find all the Beetles for sale and for how much. I was so obsessed that everyone at work knew about it and teased me constantly. I saved and got out of debt for over a year. I even told Stephen that I wouldn't marry him until I got one! Finally, the day arrived for me to purchase my very own green beetle and I couldn't have been happier. I drove the beloved Beetle for about 5 years and then had to make the difficult decision to sell it when I became pregnant with Kensley. I posted it on Craig's List and had a buyer within 3 hours! It went so fast, I didn't even have time to say goodbye. It was a sad, sad day made worse when we bought the boring family car, the Ford Taurus.
There was nothing wrong with the Taurus, it suited our purposes and drove fine. It was just boring. Stephen has always wanted an SUV, but I wasn't ready for one yet. Mostly because I was so used to driving such a fun and small car and also because I had never found an SUV that I could get really excited about. Until last week...I was driving to Wal-Mart when I spotted the ONE. I immediately called Stephen and told him about it. I wasn't planning on buying a car and I didn't expect him to jump on the idea so quickly and eagerly. He immediately got on the Internet and researched all of them for sale in the Valley, found the cheapest one and we headed out to the dealership with certain expectations that had to be met in order for us to be willing to buy it. Within an hour, we had traded in the Taurus and we are now the proud owners of an ORANGE 2007 Ford Escape! Yeah us! :o) I love the color and it is so fun. We have been waiting for buyers remorse to set in, but still nothing.

Big Girl
Since Stephen left for Kuwait last year, me and Kensley have adopted a few bad habits. One of them being that Kensley started sleeping with me instead of in a crib. When I moved back into my house, I put up the crib and tried to get her to sleep in it, but she would get really upset and flip out of it on her head! One of the first items of business when Stephen got home last week was to convert the crib into the toddler bed. We finally got it done and Kensley has been sleeping in her big girl bed for the last three nights. I put it next to my bed until she gets used to it and last night she slept in her bed all by herself all night long. She even slept in this morning until almost nine! It is the small victories that make us happy. :o)

Stephen!
Stephen went outside on our patio and shut the front door. I started yelling his name for something and Kensley copied me, yelling "Stephen, Stephen!" over and over again. She started calling him Stephen instead of Daddy for the rest of the afternoon.

Happy Birthday To Me!
Yesterday, me and my sister turned 33...EGADS! I can't believe I just admitted how OLD we are! My birthday present was Stephen coming home for a three week visit. Me, Kensley and his parents picked him up at the airport yesterday afternoon and immediately headed to The Cheesecake Factory for my birthday feast. So yummy. I always get the same cheesecake every time, it is my favorite, the Kahlua Cocoa Coffee Cheesecake. I know, I am a heathen, but I can't help myself! Stephen's parents came down to help us with delivering and installing a stackable washer/dryer that Sandi and Ryan gave to us. It was quite an ordeal, but I can now do my laundry from one location! It is the simple things in life that make us old-folk happy. They (Stephen's parents) left today and we extended my birthday festivities by dropping off Kensley at my sister Lois's house for her first sleepover so we could go to the movies and have an evening childless. I haven't received any phone calls with a hysterical baby in the background so I can only assume she is having fun. :o) Thanks Lois! :o)

New Arrival
My sister, Sandi, had her baby on April 3 at 9:48 PM. They named him Conner Steele Pinney and he weighed in at a whopping 9 lbs 3 oz! Me and Kensley are in Sacramento right now for a few days to help her out with everything. She had to have a c-section and can hardly move so I am shuttling her kids from school and making dinner. :o) Kensley loves the baby and is obsessed with giving him kisses all day long.
