Happy Valentine's Day!

Happy Valentine's Day from us!  I have to admit that this Valentine's Day was somewhat of a dud.  Probably my fault, but my heart just wasn't into it this year.  I like to have fun traditions for every holiday that we can look forward to.  Usually we have a nice dinner and then have a chocolate fondue for dessert.  Well, Stephen is in school and doesn't get home until after the kids are in bed so I just didn't feel like doing it.  It was a busy day anyway.  Cupid visited the night before and heart attacked the house.  This almost didn't happen since Cupid couldn't find last year's hearts that were saved in the holiday drawer with care.  Thankfully I had some hearts leftover from the Activity Days activity and the heart attack was saved!  Since I wasn't doing the fondue, I figured I needed to do something.  Stephen left early in the morning and bought us some heart doughnuts for breakfast.  So we were able to start the day off right.  While Kensley was in school, I decided to make a recipe I had seen on Pinterest.  Heart shaped cake mix cookies with cream cheese filling.  My hearts turned out seriously lame even though I followed the directions exactly!
After two pans of cookies turned out similar to these rejects, I gave up and made round cookies.  At least they were pink!

Kensley had a great day at school and immediately dumped out her loot when she got home.  Pyper was pretty happy about the stockpile too!

Valentine's Day also happened to be the 100th anniversary of Arizona becoming a state.  Kensley's school had what they called "A Night at the Field Museum" to commemorate the event.  There were all kinds of displays and things celebrating Arizona.  I was able to sample some fresh squeezed orange juice and squeeky cheese.  It was so crowded, though, and I couldn't wait to get out of there.  All the Kindergarteners sang "We Love You Arizona".

Kensley stood like this throughout the entire song!  She doesn't really enjoy being the center of attention.

I think we should start a blog or Facebook page that is dedicated to all the things we've tried on Pinterest! I've actually had a lot of duds...
