Monsters!

I was sleeping peacefully in my bed last night, doesn't happen often, when I was rudely awakened by Kensley screaming hysterically.  I just knew I would go in her room and find that she had thrown up everywhere.  Thankfully, I discovered there was only a monster in her room.  I sent her to my bed and tucked Pyper back in and went back to bed.  Usually, late nights like this equals lots of barf everywhere so I was relieved.  It took me FOREVER to go back to sleep and when I woke up Kensley this morning to get ready for school she was all smiles.  She did say that she could see the monster peeking under the door at us while we slept, though.  Hopefully this isn't a new thing we are going to have to endure, but right now I will take monsters over vomit any night!

Sister Time

Kensley and Pyper love to draw....on EVERYTHING!  More than that, Pyper just wants to do whatever Kensley is doing.  Every once in a while she is able to do it with a peaceful ending between the two of them!

Unattended Toddlers

What happens when you aren't paying attention to your toddler?  Many things could happen and I suppose it could be worse!  Yes, I was the brilliant one her gave her the pen and paper in the first place!  I was even in the same room with her when this happened.

Peaches, Peaches, and more Peaches!

I ordered a case of Utah peaches and they finally arrived last Thursday.  They weren't ripe yet so I waited until Monday to start canning them.  It took me two days, but I finally got it all done!  I ended up with 24 pints and 3 quarts worth.  I also tried a recipe for peach honey that turned out delicious, but only made two half pint jars. :o(  It is a process that involves boiling down all the leftover peach skins after I peeled them.  It was super easy and kind of tasted like fruit roll ups or jam.

Happy Birthday!

Stephen's birthday is September 7.  Because he has a crazy schedule and left on Wednesday morning not to return home again until about 9PM we had his official birthday dinner on Thursday night.  Wednesday morning he woke up to a happy birthday balloon and birthday doughnuts.  Someone also tagged his car, but I can't imagaine who!
For his dinner on Thursday night we had Popcorn Shrimp, Cheese Ravioli with Alfredo sauce, Blood Orange Italian Soda and Salad.  We also had Hans Solo ice cubes and Star Wars plates and cups.
For his birthday cake, I made German Chocolate Cake.  The chocolate part was good, but I scraped off the frosting on my piece.  Stephen is the only one who likes that kind!

Pyper loved blowing out the candles!

Everytime Pyper would go near the flame, Kenlsey would freak out and rush to save her!

Happy Birthday, Stephen!  We love you and hope you had a great birthday...

Almost!

Pyper's hair is getting long and I can just barely get it into a french braid!

Simple Pleasures

Last weekend I headed to the World Market with my $10 off $30 or more coupon in hand.  My goal: a table runner for my table that had orange in it.  This is what I found and I love it.  It makes me happy.  Everytime I pass my teeny tiny table I smile.  It is the little things...  And what doesn't look better with a cake on top of it!

Sticky Situations

It is funny to me how often kids and babies find themselves stuck in one dilemma or another.  Tonight it was Pyper's turn.  The kids were brushing their teeth and getting ready for bed.  Pyper decided to shut the bathroom door, but got her skirt stuck in the door.  It took me a minute to figure out why she was yelling at me!  She was especially mad, when instead of helping her, I ran to get the camera first. :o)  Once the camera came out, she made sure to say "cheese" first before she commenced yelling again.

Homework!

Kensley's first homework assignment!  Is it weird that I think it is cute watching her do homework?  Homework officially started this week for Kindergarten.  They will get a homework packet every Monday that has something for them to do everyday and then they turn it all in on Friday.  Kensley was way too excited and did all the homework in one sitting.  I kept trying to get her to stop so she would have some to do tomorrow, but she wouldn't listen!

Silly Hats

Pyper spent ALL day playing with this hat, taking it off and putting it on again.  She knew she looked good!

Bonding Moments

I went to Curriculum Night at Kensley's school a few nights ago and her teacher told us about a website they would be using in the classroom.  I opened it up one day and Kensley has been glued to the computer ever since.  It is basically a site that teaches them how to read and she LOVES it.  Pyper always wants to do everything Kensley does so she loves it as well.  It only works until Pyper starts banging on the keyboard and messes it up!  This is a moment where it was working.  Kensley loved singing the songs with Pyper.  As a slightly embarrassing sidenote:  I went to Curriculum Night with my shirt inside out!  Total horror when I realized it.  I had not been feeling well and took some aspirin and laid down in my bed for about an hour beforehand.  I woke up and put my shirt on while still groggy and the lights out and headed to the school.  I really wish Stephen was more observant and had warned me before I left!

After School Snacks

Now that Kensley is in school all day, the day has come where I have to come up with snacks after school.  Every day, when she gets home, she asks what I made her!  I don't usually make something, but have made a few treats here and there.  On this day, Pyper is enjoying a chocolate zucchini muffin.  I thought they turned out just okay, but she seems to be a fan! :o)
