My Ballerina

I recently enrolled Kensley in a dance class with the city of Mesa. It is a jazz/tap/ballet combo and is only 5 weeks long. Kensley loves the class once I can get her there, but usually cries the whole way there saying she doesn't want to go! Got to love the drama queen stage! She has lots of fun once she gets there and I always make her go no matter how big the fit.

Growing Up

I haven't been taking as many pictures of Pyper as I should be. This is the most recent pic's that I took last week. She is getting to be so big, for her at least. Yesterday she had a doctor's appt, her two-month checkup and she weighed 8 lbs 6 oz, 20 inches long, and her head was 37 1/2 inches. She had to have three shots and that was so sad, but she was easily comforted afterwards. Later that night she cried a lot, but is better now.
Dad and Pyper stayed up together through the night one night last week so I could sleep and this is how I found them in the morning. :o)

Our Life

Our life has pretty much revolved around doctor's appointments these days it seems. Yesterday I had another doctor appointment...I have had one every single week since Pyper was born. My blood pressure was down again, it was up last week, so the good news is I get to take my bp medicine once a day now instead of twice. I will be so thankful when all this is behind me. The medicine makes me feel terrible. I was also told that getting pregnant again right now is not a good idea...as if I needed someone to tell me that!!! Anyway, we also had another doctor appointment for Pyper yesterday as well. She was a whopping 6 lbs 12 oz!!! Two weeks ago she was 5lbs 12 oz! She is also 6 weeks old today. She is such a big girl. :o) Not really, but she is getting bigger all the same. We were told we should keep her away from people for another month or so to be safe. We were denied the RSV shot by insurance, she had one in the hospital, but you need them every month during RSV season. So, she won't be getting another one as they are $1000 per shot! Holy moly! We just have to be very careful so she doesn't get sick.
We have been pummeled by rain the last couple days and because we are so lucky, our power went out last night around 5PM and is still out this afternoon. I have a freezer full of breast milk and I will be super upset if it goes bad!!! Right now it is still frozen. We had a slumber party last night in my room and dined on chips and salsa by candlelight. Every few minutes Kensley asks me to watch something on TV or for some hot chocolate. Try explaining to a 3-year old why I can't produce those things! I guess I could try and make her some luke warm hot chocolate. :o) Stephen started up school full-time this week again so we are home without a car. Not that I would try and go anywhere with my baby alone and with out parking lot a lake, literally.
Now I am just waiting for the battery in this computer to die before I move on to the next thing. Most likely cleaning. Bleh!

January 11, 2010

Pyper is now one month old! It is hard to believe that a whole month has gone by since she was born and I still should be pregnant!! She had a doctor's appointment last Thursday and she was 5lbs 12 oz. That means that she gained 6 ounces in one week. So, she is doing really well and the doctor said we could go two weeks before her next appointment which will put us right around my due date. Hopefully she will be full birth weight by then and we can relax the heinous feeding schedule that is leaving us completely exhausted. Knowing my luck, the doctor will say it is okay to let her sleep and she will decide she doesn't want to! We have also found a solution to the gross vitamin she has to take. Instead of forcing it down her throat and having her throw it all up a half our later, we mix it with her milk over several feedings throughout the day. Now she doesn't even know that she is taking it and she is still getting the iron that she needs.

Three Weeks Old

Pyper has been doing really well since we were able to take her home from the hospital. She spent a little over two weeks in the NICU and we brought her home on Dec. 28. On Dec. 27 she weighed 5 lbs 1 oz and at her first doctor's appointment on Dec. 31 she weighed 5 lbs 6 oz. We just had another doctor's appointment yesterday, Jan. 7, and she was 5 lbs 12 oz. We are still on a 3 hour feeding schedule that has left us exhausted but it looks like it has been paying off. Because she is doing so well, we don't have to take her to another doctor visit for 2 weeks instead of 1 and that will put her right around my actual due date and we are hoping that she will still be doing well and then we will be able to switch to a normal newborn schedule of visits. In this picture she is three weeks old, but as of today she is a big girl of 4 weeks! She is a tiny little thing and we are happy she is growing so that she won't seem so fragile.
